It's hard to believe 2010 is here! We had a wonderful holiday season. We spent Christmas in Disneyworld, had a blast! It was hard to come back to reality after beign there for a week, but as most of you that have been to Disney know, your pocketbook empties very fast there. The girls loved it, Will on the other hand was a typical 20 mo old and could only tolerate a few hours at a time. I think we will go back when he is old enough to understand and enjoy himself more.
The kids are doing well and keeping Mike and I busy as always. The girls are doing well in school. Gabby is now playing basketball for her high school. She is having a good time and making new friends everyday. Lauren did very well this semester: 4 A's and 2 B's. She is playing volleyball for a local club team and seems to be enjoying herself. Maggie is doing great in school, her teachers are amazed at her progress. She LOVES school and it is so awesome to see her interacting with her peers. It's hard to believe William is almost 2. He is a very active little boy, but also has such a sweet disposition.
We are enjoying being back in Louisiana, especially now with our SAINTS football team! It's nice to see our family and old friends more often. Of course, the New Orleans food has been difficult to resist, so I'm working on exercising more and losing weight, a long time goal I've worked hard to achieve. I'm working at a local hospital, and also making new friends of my own. We are looking forward to Mardi Gras in New Orleans since we have not celecbrated it here in 10 years! We are looking forward to buying a home soon, since our rental is quite cozy with all six of us.
Wishing everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year!

Thanksgiving
So much for doing better with my blog...lol. Well as everyone knows, we are back in Louisiana. Mikes job was kind enough to offer him the opportunity to work in the southeast with a home office. The timing couldn't have been more perfect, since Mikes mom was diagnosed with cancer in May. She had a rough time between two surgeries and recently completing 5 weeks of chemo and radiation. We are so thankful to share Thanksgiving with them.
Kids are adjusting well. Lauren had a rough start this time, she enjoyed her school and living in CO. Gabby finished high school volleyball and now on the basketball team. Gabby is enjoying high school and making lots of new friends. Lauren will play club volleyball in the winter. Maggie is doing awesome!!! She loves school and beginning to interact more with her peers. She started reading a few weeks ago, we were amazed! We're looking into equine therapy for her soon. She also started dancing this year and loves it as well. William is a cutie pie, hes ALL boy, and we love him to pieces. We are so proud of our kids!
I'm working at a local hospital in Nursery and NICU, as well as helping in lactation. I mainly work 1-2 nights/wk. Trying to get settled and unpack, again. We're renting for now and hope to start looking for a home in the spring.
So much to be thankful for this year, our health, our family...God continues to bless us in so many ways. Wishing you and your family a blessed and happy thanksgiving!

Summertime
Well...looks like last blog was springtime, so we'll try for a "new" season here. As usual the Trosclair household is busy!
The kids are having a good summer so far. At the end of May, we visited our family and friends in Louisiana and Alabama, had a wonderful time seeing everyone. Unfortunately, we learned in May that Mike's mom was diagnosed with colon cancer. Her surgery was during the time we were in town, which was nice that we could be there with her. Her prognosis looks very good, and she will have her colostomy reversed soon, and then they will do chemo and radiation. Please keep her in your prayers.
Gabby graduated from 8th grade and gearing up for high school. She is attending volleyball and basketball camps this summer, and meeting new kids. Lauren is anxious to start middle school, and will be attending Sacred Heart again. They have both been a huge help with watching the kids for me when I work, and earning extra money babysitting.
Maggie is starting Kindergarten next month, hard to believe. She is attending extended school year for 2 more weeks, and having a blast. Then, she will be going to princess camp at our Rec center, the last week of July. She is doing great and progressing very well.
Mr. Will is mobile and wild! He's a sweetie pie, but very mischievous and curious. Don't know where he could possibly get that from...lol We love him to pieces, but have to say boys ARE different, very busy!
Mike is enjoying his job here in Colorado. The company has been great so far! I work at night a couple of nights/week then occasionally pick up shifts in lactation at another hospital close by.
The weather here is wonderful! Very low humidity and cool temps. It is completely different from the south. Very scenic and unbelievable! If we could just put our family and friends here, it would be perfect!
Have a great summer!

William's birth story
As my son is about to turn one year old, I realized I never typed his birth story. WARNING...it is very detailed so if you don't want to know the details, I suggest not to read.
Here it goes:
The week before William's birth was somewhat stressful. Mike had to travel to the annual NAB conference in Las Vegas for work, and I was 38 weeks and 4 days. I was so worried I would go into labor while he was gone, and he would miss our son's birth. With the girls, I was induced, and never went into labor on my own, and Maggie was an emergency c-section. I really wanted to attempt a natural birth with William, so Mike and I took Bradley classes during my pregnancy to help prepare us. His boss assured him if I did go into labor, he would put him on the next flight out and send him home. But being baby #4, we did not now how fast things could go.
That week, I tried to not to think about it, and I was thankful for each day that got closer to Mike's arrival home. I went to see Dr C on Wed, 4/16, and no change in previous weeks, 70% effaced, very high, fingertip. I was hopeful I could still VBAC, but worried still about a possible repeat c-section. Thursday, April 17th, I treated myself to a prenatal massage, which I think helped things begin to progress. She focused on the areas of my feet, which can help jump start labor. But when nothing happened, I again got discouraged. Mike was coming home Fri nite, so I was ready for labor to start!
Then Fri evening, Mike arrived home and I felt so relieved, a sense of peace that I was ready for William to arrive. I spoke to a friend of mine that was practicing with a midwife in town about some herbal things and "other" suggestions to help prepare me for labor. It felt so nice to have Mike at home, and we had a wonderful evening. The older girls were sleeping at The Thompsons house, so it was just us and Maggie that evening. Mike was tired from his trip, and he said, "We don't have anything to do tomorrow huh?" I replied, "No.", but little did I know what William had planned ;)
At around 5:45, something woke me up, different from the usual Braxton Hicks and cramping. I remember thinking, is this labor? I got up and went to the sofa to watch my favorite channel, HGTV, and beginning timing what I thought could be contractions. I begin timing and they were 10-13 min apart, very early start of labor. I continued this for an hour, and they were consistent 10 min apart, but very managable. I woke up Mike, and said I think this could be the day. Of course, he was in complete denial since I never experinced labor spontanously before. I took a bath to help relax me, and as I moved around things would pick up, so I felt this was it. I called Wendy and Rachael, my very good friends and doulas to let them know. He fixed me a wonderful breakfast, as Jennifer instructed him to, an omelette and large glass of OJ. I remembered Jen telling me to stay hydrated, so I begin drinking lots of water. I begin calling/texting my friends and family. My mom wasn't sure when to leave since she was a 7 hr drive away. But, I wasn't sure how long I would be in labor, so I told her to wait til things got closer, still in denial that I would have a baby that day.
At around 9am, Maggie woke up and my contactions were 7 min apart lasting about 30 sec, still very early labor. Since she was still nursing, I let her nurse thinking this could help speed up labor, and it helped keep the pattern consistent. It was a beautiful spring day, so Mike and I decided to take a walk around the neighborhood with Maggie. My friend Tracy brought me a large Strawberry slush from Sonic, which I devoured. Since Wendy lived down the street, we walked to her house for a potty break. I told Wendy I would keep her posted, but planned on staying home until the contactions picked up.
The girls came home around 1pm, I told Greg I was in labor, but not the girls yet. I was sitting on the birth ball when they arrived, and Gabby says, "What are you doing?" I said, "Getting ready to have a baby?" Of course, Gabby and Lauren begin screaming with excitement, and packing their bags. Meanwhile, Maggie is oblivious, and Mike still in denial, with an occasional you ok? He did find me an awesome website to time the contractions, http://www.contractionmaster.com My friend Rachael and I begin IM each other, as she was helping me along in labor, love the new technology, internet doula...lol
Around 2pm, my "friend" training to be a midwife came over and checked me. I was 3-4 cm, very thin, but still high. Yeah...progress!! TMI alert: Shortly after, I lost my mucous plug. I think at that point, Mike finally believed me that we would have a baby soon. I called my parents and told them to hightale it to Huntsville. The girls begin acting as my doulas, massaging my back and such. Around 3pm, the contractions picked up and begin 2-3 min apart lasting 60-90 sec. I told Mike we needed to head to the hospital. Our neighbor, Kathy, took Maggie and we left for the hospital with the older girls.
We arrived at the hospital around 4 pm, and shortly after Rachael, Wendy and my friend Katherine arrived. Things begin picking up faster, and getting a little more challenging, but I was still talking through my contractions. Around 4:30 the L&D nurse checked me, and said I was 4 cm so I fgured it would be probably late that night or early am when I would deliver. Baby was still high and she said about 90% effaced. My OB said he had no problem with me being mobile during labor, with occasional monitoring. However, the L&D nurse said no due to me being a VBAC. But, we decided to do what we needed to do during labor, since William's labor strip looked completely normal. Around 5pm, I sat on the birthball, and Wendy and Mike massaged my back during the contractions, things were picking up. I remember going to the bathroom, and then feeling intense contractions, I decided to lay in the bed on my side, because my back was killing me. Katherine was planning on taking Gabby and Lauren to eat dinner, but decided to stay since I was appearing to get very close. Then, all I remember is them sticking me for an IV FOUR TIMES and contrractions were on top of each other. I thought at this point, "What the hell am I doing, get me an epidural!" I begin begging Mike to find an anesthesiologist because I had no clue what the heck was going on, and could not manage the pain. Katherine, Wendy, Rachael and Mike were awesome. They were coaching me the whole way, and telling me how awesome I was doing. Meanwhile, Dr C popped in to say Hi and I was telling him please let me have an epidural. So he thought he should check me, I was complete and William was coming down, I had no clue I was in transition. Dr C explained if I wanted an epidural that was fine, however I would need labs drawn and a liter of IV fluids before I could get it. He said the head was right there, and if he broke my water, I would have a baby. I said, "Let's go!" I asked the older girls to step out because I was scared and did not want to frighten them. I think Dr C came in around 6:15, and with maybe 4-5 pushes, William John Michael was born at 6:28 pm weighing 8#10.5 oz and 21 in long. He was so beautfiul and I remember looking over at Mike, and just crying with joy. We were on cloud nine, our son was born. Rachael quickly got the girls, and they saw him immediately following his birth. Mike was able to cut the cord, and Dr C collected the cord blood to send to ViaCord. It was amazing to see this beautiful little boy and how much he looked like his daddy, and still does. I felt so good after his birth, and was able to get up and around so much easier than the others. It was a day that I will cherish for all of my life

Springtime
Its hard to believe its almost spring, and actually it feels like it here in Colorado (minus the dry air...lol). I never throught I would say I miss the humidity. We've been battling colds, nothing too serious, but poor Will ended up in the ER a few weeks back with the Croup. Maggie and Mike seem to be the healthiest of the bunch.
We're planning a mini vacation to Winter Park this upcoming weekend for Spring Break. Gabby loves skiing and i'll try to get a few pics of her this time. I was so sick when we went to Breckenridge, it was hard to enjoy myself outside the hotel room. Lauren was not too fond of skiing, she has been having problems with her ankle. We're looking forward to enjoy so other outside winter sports along with sightseeing on our trip, maybe sledding and tubing?
I've been working at night, 2 12's/week in NICU, and its been an adjustment. Daycare is so expensive here, I try to work 2 days apart so I can try to sleep with Will at home. Speaking of Will, he's a busy boy. He's creeping everywhere and can crawl up the stairs in 30 sec...he's fast. It's hard to believe he is 11 mo old today, only 1 month from his 1st birthday :(
Gabby is preparing for her confirmation in April. She went on her retreat this past weekend in Estes Park, near the Rockies. She was accepted into Holy Family High School in the fall and is very excited! 8th grade was not as easy of a transition for her, unfortunately. She left behind so many close friends in Alabama, she has not found that here yet. But, we are hopeful she will have a wonderful high school experince and begin meeting new friends soon. Both the girls are playing volleyball at school and finished basketball. Gabby's team won 1st place championship in our league, and Lauren's team won 3rd place. Lauren has adjusted very well to the move. Like Gabby, she is really growing up and maturing so fast. Both the girls are such a huge help with the little ones and at home.
Miss Maggie is....well, Miss Maggie. She has been wanting more of mommy's attention lately, which I believe has to do with me working nights. When I'm home, she wants to snuggle with me and only me...."William, Daddy" as she says. We saw a new doctor in Colorado Springs and were really pleased with him. I'm working on a 2nd blog for Maggie to discuss her treatments and what we're doing for her. The biggest things are no milk, (which is hard since Maggie loves cheese), treating her gut for yeast and more labs. We are starting new therapy services and awaiting to acceptance for services with Imagine!
Mike loves his new job, and the travel is greatly reduced, which we all love. And, if all goes well...we should have our home in Alabama sold this week.....yeah!!! We are in a lease here until end of September, so we are looking around to see where we want to live or may even consider building.
That's all for know, I'm at work, and need to get back to work now. TTFN :)

Happy New Year
Its hard to believe we are in the year 2009...where did 2008 go? Lots of changes for the Trosclairs, and we're still going strong :)
Mike loves his new job, its so nice to see him so happy. This move has been the best thing for all of us! Very little travel so far which we all love :)
Gabby is doing pretty good...she is having a tougher time "fitting in", but very excited about high school next year. We've applied to the local catholic school and public school as well. She's finishing up basketball and getting ready for volleyball.
Lauren is doing well both academically and socially. She's also finishing up basketball and looking forward to her favorite sport, volleyball.
Maggie is doing okay, good days and bad days, very typical of Autism. I've decided to dedicate a blog to my journey with Autism, a little more detailed to discuss what is really going on with Autism and our journey in healing. She is such a loving child, and I know there is hope for her to get better. Maybe a book in the future. who knows?
Will is a sweetie pie, and into everything! Definitely busier than the girls, and is keeping me on my toes. I think I'll have to explore baby gates for the stairs very soon, like tonight...lol. He's a good baby, and loves being the center of attention, imagine that?
As for as me, I'm working a couple days/week between two different hospitals, one in NICU and another as a Lactation Consultant. In my "spare time" (haha) I'm busy trying to organize, clean and care for my family. I love having more time with the kids and Mike.
Although, all my children mean the world to me, I'm putting a little more time into what we need to do to help Maggie. She is so young and this is a vital time to give her as much as I can. Through God's grace, I know she will heal.
This week, we are taking a special trip to Breckenridge, a real treat for all of us. The girls want to ski, but I've decided to not fall on my butt 100 times and stick to regular shoes. So Mike and girls will enjoy the slopes, and Will and I can go shopping! Its the Ice Sculpture contest and we are all very excited!
Thats all for now.. except we just got a new car! Actually Mike did, and for those of you that know Mike's old jeep, he needed it! His new baby...The Dodge Durango!

OK...I'm going to try to do a better job with this...lol
I intended to update my blog weekly...but...it just didn't happen.
What's new...well, Mike's parents cam in early to help out with the little ones so I could start orienting for my new job(s), I'm working prn at 2 hospitals, one as an LC and other in NICU. I like both facilites, but I LOVE lactation since that is my passion.
The kids are doing well, and getting very excited about Christmas.
Maggie finally gets it and realizes Santa is coming! Maggie has been having good and bad days...we're going to see our new DAN doctor in Colorado Springs in January. We've heard good things about him so...we'll see. She is much more verbal but become very defiant with dressing and keeping her coat on, which is a must here. We're working on some different strategies, and hoping the Christmas break does not set her back.
Will is crawling, babbling away (mama and dada), pulling up, and into everything! He is such a happy baby and has been doing great with me working the past couple of weeks. His appetite is great and loves all his baby foods. It's hard to believe he is 8 months old.
Gabby and Lauren (Miss Tween and Teen) are doing good, playing basketball, going to school and driving us crazy as usual...lol They're excited about Christmas break and have begun a new hobby of snow tubing. They are a mess!
Mike is enjoying his job and learning lots of new things everyday. Its so nice to have him home more, the kids and I really missed him having to travel so much.
The weather has been an adjustment anywhere from -17 to 40's lately, and snow here and there. We LOVE Colorado, its absolutely beautiful and so much to do. It will be different not being in LA for Christmas, but we are thankful to have Mike's parents here to share the holidays with us!
Merry Christmas!
